Jon Ecklund

vocals/guitar

A veteran of the NW music scene for the last 3 decades, Jon has a very diverse musical portfolio. Past cover projects include Rockslide and The Boinkers as well as a Beatles Tribute Band, The Plasticine Porters. Original projects include Tiny Volcano and GE5. An interesting feature to our shows is the implementation of the multiple guitar tunings of Stephen Stills and David Crosby that Jon tries to replicate, which brings a sense of authenticity to the songs.

Robert Gardunia

Vocals/Bass

Robert has played extensively with several popular Tribute acts throughout the Puget Sound area since 2000. Robert is well-versed in a wide variety of musical styles from folk to metal to progressive rock. Along with being a founding member of Wasted on the Way, Robert performs with Taylor Made (a tribute to James Taylor) and Rebel Canyon (modern country covers).

Tim Monaghan

vocals/guitar

Playing music from a young age, Tim began performing professionally in high school. He attended the School of Music at Pacific Lutheran University, and after concluding his studies, he toured the West Coast, Hawaii, Alaska, and the Far East for the next few years. He has played extensively with local groups throughout the northwest. A singer who plays bass and guitar, Tim has performed with the Tacoma Symphony, including a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2019. Brian “Beeg” Martin

Keys/harp/sax/conga/vocals

Brian (“Beeg”) has been an animator and video producer for 25+ years and just retired from a 20-year stint as a college professor. He played in a local hair band in the 80s and spent most of the 90s working for The Spud Goodman Show, first in graphics and doing any odd job KTZZ TV would let him do and then later as the show editor during its three-year run on FOX. Beeg also directed most of the music segments during the last two seasons and was once given a cookie by Julia Child. Yes, he ate it (duh.) Over the last two decades in addition to teaching full-time Beeg has acted in and edited over 70 film shorts for local cable (The Tacoma Diaries,) built a lot of websites and now, most importantly, makes music with friends.

John Paul Michaels

drums

John Paul (JP), from Atlanta, GA, started playing in bands in high school . The bands, none of which you’ve heard of, include The Confederation, Stage Fright, The Peach Boys, Nightfall, Tropicus 22, and Parnassus. The genres ranged from Acoustic Rock to Classic Rock to Brazilian Jazz. After moving to Colorado, he started an A Cappella group, Poetic License, that performed locally. Since moving the PNW in 2002, John Paul has played with Gin Creek and The Van Holts (still subbing with both from time to time). He currently plays with Budapest West (7+ years), and is the newest member of Wasted On The Way along with live mixing and location recording work.
